Microsoft Teams calling
Turn Microsoft Teams into your business phone system. Staff make and take external calls in the app they already use, with your existing numbers ported across.
Teams Phone needs a connection to the public phone network. You can buy Microsoft Calling Plans, or connect Teams to a telecoms provider through Direct Routing or Operator Connect. Using a provider usually gives better call rates, more number types and UK-based support.
We connect your Microsoft 365 tenant, port your numbers, and set up auto attendants and call queues in Teams. Users who need a desk phone can use Teams-certified handsets.

Direct Routing connects Teams to a provider through session border controllers you or the provider manage. Operator Connect is a simpler, Microsoft-managed connection where you choose the provider in the Teams admin centre. Our Teams calling guide compares them.
Do I need extra Microsoft licences?
Each calling user needs a Teams Phone licence, which is included in Microsoft 365 E5 and available as an add-on for other plans.
